Kate of Hoboken
Spinning at Art House's Snowball 2008
I am Kate of Hoboken who now lives in Bayonne, NJ.  People ask me, why the name?  Well, in 2001 at the
age of thirty seven, I was Mom to four year old
Rhapsody and two year old Bucky when I became a
widow.  This was jolting.  My husband had been my world.

My husband was bold and loud.  He had owned a scene shop and built Broadway shows.  After his death I
subconsciously grabbed his bold energy, his ability to create new worlds and marched forward.  Words
became important to me.   I began to write.  I called it journal dialysis.  I found if I did not write, I did not
function well.  The writing then turned into poetry, prose, song and then performance.  In the  process of
finding my voice and strength I felt a little like Joan of Arc; possessed and determined.  When ever I felt
weak, I reminded myself to be bold and would whisper, "You're Kate of Hoboken.  You can do it.  Yes you
can!"

This website shares some of my words.  My love letter to Bob is
Kiss Bye Kate.  My encouragement to
artists is
To Fellow Artists.  I hope one day to hear my songs sung by great voices.  So if you hear a song of
mine and you think "So & So" would sing it
just perfect, tell me so I can send them the idea.

And are love and hate the same note?  Here is my essay which explores that thought:
Discovery By An
Organic Songwriter.

Enjoy.  And what are you doing today, this week, this month that you feel great about?
