If I Died Tomorrow Did I Live Today?
|
If I died tomorrow did I live today?
Did I roll by the sorrows, give n' take n' play?
Did I push till tomorrow, what love I could, my way?
If I died tomorrow did I live today?
Did I stop my car for street crossers? Only buy fresh bread?
Did I watch the sunrise without demons in my head?
Did I lend or borrow? Did I plant or pick?
Did I hand out ruby smiles with a happy shtick?
Did-I-often, clean and cream my face?
Did-I-often, have good tea with cake?
Did I stand in marshes watching egrets mate?
Did I kiss n' hug and give good words of grace?
Did I zip-zip my lips with unkindness at my jaws?
Did I springboard or ricochet when scenes went really raw?
Did I forgive the lover who boo-booed on my heart?
Did I forgive my parents for a tad imperfect start?
Did I forgive my siblings? Do I forgive myself?
Did I forgive any and all just for my health?
I don’t forgive that Lulu who often did a dodge
I don’t forgive that Georgie for his false facades
They sent me to the coolly, truly were unruly
If that makes me cruel then, -- judgers bang the gong
Each day with me is different, I’m fickle and I’m sweet
I’m feisty and I’m gentle, I can and do compete
Don’t know what we are here for, but each has got a song
A pattern and a rhythm, for, we don’t know how long
Kindness is the currency
But when we feel the heat
Forgive, forgive, forgive -- is the up beat!
Forgive, forgive, forgive -- is the up beat!
For if I died tomorrow
Which I pray I don’t
I didn’t dwell in sorrow
I jumped in lakes from ropes
If I died tomorrow
Which I pray I don’t
I often lent and borrowed
And lived a live with hope
So if I died tomorrow -- I did live.
If I died tomorrow -- I did give.
If I died tomorrow -- I forgived.
If I died tomorrow -- I did live.
For if I died tomorrow
Which I pray I don’t
I didn’t over borrow
I shalom'd down the slopes
If I died tomorrow
Which I pray I don’t
I often danced out sorrow
And cleaned up nice with soap
So if I died tomorrow -- I did live.
If I died tomorrow -- I did give.
If I died tomorrow -- I forgived.
If I died tomorrow -- I did live.
