If I Died Tomorrow Did I Live
|
If I died tomorrow, did I live?
Did I roll by the sorrows, and forgive?
Did I push till tomorrow, what-love-I-could, my-way?
If I died tomorrow, did I live today?
If I died tomorrow did I live?
Did I bye-bye the sorrows and still give?
Did I forget the borrows, and over lend my hands?
If I died tomorrow, did I live as planned?
Did I troll the rivers?
Steer the rocking boat?
Did I cheer my peoples with a hoarse-y throat?
Did I sweep the galleys?
Paint the graying decks?
Did I clean up after some pains in the neck?
Life’s a folly
You’ve got to keep the jolly
If I died tomorrow did I live?
Did I clean the gutters?
Dust some nearsighted stars?
Did I over drink on that trip to Mars?
Did I play high rollers?
Lose my favorite shirt?
Did I play it cool till I was a jerk?
Life’s a folly
You’ve got to bend by golly
If I died tomorrow did I live?
Did I love my Honey?
Did I hold my childs?
Did I cry n’ cry for the longest while?
Did I get back up?
After crashing down?
Or knock’em all dead, round by round?
If I died tomorrow did I live?
Did I row by the sorrows and forgive?
Did I push till tomorrow, what-love-I-could, my-way?
If I died tomorrow, did I live today?
Life’s a folly
You’ve got to add the jolly
If I died tomorrow did I live?
Did I flow by the sorrows and forgive?
Did I push till tomorrow, what-love-I-could, my-way?
If I died tomorrow, did I live today?
Life’s a folly
You’ve got to keep the jolly
This is sung by the lovely Lisa Asher who's instrument can harmonize in a way that my voice never will! (and I'm OK with that!).

One December the song gods woke me. I scribbled what they said and went to bed. The song was: If I Died Tomorrow Did I Live Today?
The next night I ice skated and the song gods began talking again. They kept feeding me the same lines I had the night before but slightly different. I told them, "I already wrote that song," and I went to bed. They woke me at 3:00 am and said, "That song yesterday was for you. You're wordy. This song is for someone else, a group that can harmonize. It's simple. People will get this. WRITE IT DOWN." So I did (really I wrote the lyrics down because I was motivated to get more sleep!) and this song is the result. The whole experience felt like the two songs were a DNA cell split and that's the story!
